Captain Rick holds a U.S.C.G. captains license and Texas fishing guide license. As a local Corpus Christi resident since 2001, he has been learning and fly fishing the flats between Rockport and the middle Laguna Madre. His passion for fly fishing began with snow fed mountain streams for native trout while on vacation along the Continental divide at 14 years old. He then began fly fishing the rivers around the Texas hill country. Being near the coast during college, this passion transitioned to salt water. Armed with patience, fly rod and a kayak, he learned through trial and error how to find and target redfish in the local coastal flats. Wanting to explore waters beyond the reach of a days paddle, he purchased his first skiff. This allowed him to reach new waters and share his knowledge and experience to teach others the art of stalking redfish on the flats. Currently, Captain Rick guides out of a 2018 Beavertail Mosquito, which offers a comfortable, quiet, yet dry ride.
